Eric points out that of the nine players the Mets sent to the WBC — Reyes, Perez, Feliciano, Cora, Delgado, Beltran, Putz, Wright, Rodriguez — only three “have had what could be reasonably described as healthy seasons.” It’s certainly possible the WBC had a negative effect. Another possibility: five of those players are at least 32 years old, and another has a knack for taking fastballs to the head.
