Only in the modern NBA, that is, where the most consistent gripe about the league has morphed from “they don’t play hard” (though that’s still alarmingly common) to “the refs are crooked and/or bad.” When the referees strike against the NBA, which they might well do, fans are probably not going to care. Can replacement refs hold up? I, for one, am willing to find out.
