The numbers don't lie.
Melanie Oudin hit 43 unforced errors in her quarterfinal match against Caroline Wozniacki tonight, a staggering number given that the two only played 16 games.
That means that of the 69 points Wozniacki won in the match, a full 62 percent were given to her by the 17-year old Oudin.
Frankly, given Oudin's poor play, it's amazing she was able to win as many games as she did.

Ya think?
Caroline did NOT make the mistakes and thus, won the match. It wasn’t given to her; she won it with superior defensive play. Give the Dane the credit she deserves and stop whining. You sound like the brutally-biased ESPN announcers last night. Wozniacki handilyy outplayed Oudin and deserved to win.
BTW, Pam Shriver’s rude and needless “dis” last night should disqualify her from further coverage. It’s just another example of the media’s unprofessional reporting.

Agreed on Pam
Pam Shriver is the worst. You won’t get any argument otherwise from us.
As for Caroline, yeah, she deserves credit. But Oudin clearly played her worst tennis of the tournament.

Wozniacki moved Oudin around quite a lot, and really that’s her game. She doesn’t take risky shots, and it’s really to a fault, IMO. She waits for her opponent to lose the point, and doesn’t go for winners. It’s okay to play a defensive game, but you’ve got to recognize when your opponent is making some bad returns and try and take advantage.
Hockey blogging can't get any flatter.

If you don't have a power game
you have to play like Caroline – return as many shots as you can and make the opponent finally make the error. Actually, it takes discipline to NOT go for winners many times…..just keep the ball in play. It works for Caroline. My main gripe is ESPN doing the overkill bit, once again, and making it The Melanie Show and giving Wozniacki very little credit. It also put undue pressure on Oudin, but what does ESPN care? They are only interested in ratings, not people. ESPN needs to take responsibility for their announcers, too.
