Tuscaloosa, AL (Sports Network) - Scotty Hopson paced the Volunteers with 17 points as No. 8 Tennessee gutted out a 63-56 win over Alabama in an SEC battle from Coleman Coliseum.

UT escaped with the win despite shooting a paltry 39.3 percent from the floor and a 3-of-10 showing from three-point range. Hopson accounted for all three treys while Bobby Maze contributed nine points, six boards and a team-high three assists.

JaMychal Green led the Crimson Tide with 16 points and 12 rebounds while Tony Mitchell posted 11 points, nine boards and five blocks for Alabama (11-7, 1-3), which lost its third straight game.

The Tide suffered from a 37.9-percent shooting effort and committed 14 turnovers.
