Don't look now, but the Wizards -- the dysfunctional, messy Wizards! -- are just four games out of a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. That fact wasn't lost on coach Flip Saunders, who invoked the legendary Jim Mora when he talked about the teams' playoff chances at practice yesterday (seriously, how awesome is that?).
Mike Miller also used an analogy to talk about the playoffs. Problem is, his was rather unfortunate.
Mike Miller uses an ill-timed metaphor to explain why playoffs remain possible for Wiz: "We've got a lot of firepower in that locker room."
Yes, in fact, the Wizards do have a lot of firepower in their locker room. I don't think any other teams' locker room has a Magnum 500 S&W 50 caliber handgun that's supposedly the most powerful handgun available on the open market. Zing!
In all seriousness, maybe it's time we start to reconsider our sports metaphors ... aw, hell, nevermind, we need something to laugh about.
