The 22-slot roster for U.S. Olympic skiing has been released, crammed full of such stalwarts as Lindsey Vonn, Bode Miller, Julia Mancuso and Ted Ligety. The ruddy-faced men's roster is here; a list of women who could probably kill you with their ankle muscles is here. (Don't be fooled. Those things they strap to their feet are sharp.)
Speaking of Bode Miller, he's being talked up for a U.S. Open bid ... in tennis. But before you get too worked up, please note that he's been playing pretty much his whole life, so this isn't just some kind of drunk Bode antic. (Until he shows up at the court drunk, which will be wonderful television.)
The U.S. ski team won a pair of gold medals in Torino in 2006, a number they will look to improve on in Vancouver next month. Vonn has won five straight World Cup downhill events this season, and leads in the overall points standings -- she could be a legitimate five-medal threat. This will be Miller's fourth Olympic team.
The five Alpine events in skiing are downhill, super-G, giant slalom, slalom and super-combined.
