Indianapolis would like to let you know that they show up on time every day, and never sport an unironed shirt, and get up early and go to bed early because that's one of the cornerstones of a successful life, you know? Just like Peyton Manning, they're grinders, polite, well-mannered worker bees in an unglamorous, wholesome city that just does things the right way without much fuss or drama. Good for them.
Then, on the other side...there's New Orleans.
That's the left hand of Jesus that some New Orleans residents claimed flicked Katrina slightly off-course at the last second, just one of the beautiful little details Wright Thompson piles together in his ode to the Saints' home. Just go watch it, because if Indy is the earnest cousin who went to pharmacy school and drives a used Prius, New Orleans is presented here as exactly what you think it is: the crazy but charismatic relative who drives a stunning Cadillac with a knack for staying out too late on weeknights and escaping death by the skin of their teeth.

That was beautiful, thanks for sharing.
I was posted to the Big easy on a seven month job during one football season back in the late 80’s. I couldn’t believe how rabidly loyal the Saints fans were even though their team was absolutley horrible. It’s good to see them get some small measure of karmic payback for all those years of suffering.
That said, my money is still on the earnest pharmacist and his used Prius.
