In an interview with the Golf Channel, golfer John Daly said Friday that he's withdrawing from the Farmer's Insurance Open after a poor start. But he didn't stop there. The 43-year-old veteran says he is finished with professional golf.
In an interview with Golf Channel following his second-round 71 at the North Course at Torrey Pines today, John Daly told a producer that he's done with golf.
[...] Now, Daly wasn't necessarily specific about his plans; rather, he was obviously disappointed about his play this week and didn't hold back in the interview. That's nothing new. If anything, his emotion fell right in line with other episodes he's had on the golf course long before his weight loss.
Of course, this is not a formal retirement announcement, and it's quite possible that the mercurial golfer is simply exhibiting his frustration. As soon as we find out how serious Daly really is, we'll come back with an update.
