The days of 64-game conference win streaks are now in the past for the Tigers. They're even having trouble putting together a three-game string at this point.
Today, Memphis dropped to 5-2 in Conference USA thanks to a 70-60 defeat at (get ready for it) SMU.
The win moves the Mustangs to 10-10 overall -- with two of those wins coming against lower division opponents -- and 3-3 in the league, their best campaign in many years. But the victory over the former conference bullies is by far the biggest of Matt Doherty's (remember him?) tenure in Dallas.
The Tigers had better be happy Josh Paster is now their coach. John Calipari would have probably made his players crawl back to West Tennessee if such a setback happened on his watch.
