Goaltender Jean-Sebastien Giguere is a Toronto Maple Leaf as well, as general manager Brian Burke continues to turn his team upside down on this Sunday morning.
Struggling goalie Vesa Toskala and forward Jason Blake are headed to Anaheim.
The 32-year-old Giguere had lost his starting job in Anaheim to youngster Jonas Hiller, who signed a new four-year contract with the Ducks yesterday. It was clear the writing was on the wall for ‘Giggy’ and to that end, today’s trade is really no shocker.
He will be reunited in Toronto with Burke, who originally signed him as GM of the Ducks. Giguere had to waive his no-trade clause for the trade to be finalized.
