Fresh off the Mike Leach debacle, it seems Texas Tech is ready to move on. ESPN's Joe Schad is reporting that the school has a deal in place with former Auburn head coach Tommy Tubberville, with a formal announcement of a hiring coming later today.
Tuberville has a career head coaching record of 110-60, and he last coached in 2008, when he led Auburn to a 5-7 record. Tuberville resigned after the season, and since then, he's been moonlighting as a college football analyst for ESPN. No word on whether he's got a healthy relationship with Craig James.
Stay tuned for more news as it emerges, and in the meantime, check out SB Nation's excellent Texas Tech blog, Double T Nation.
