Shane Doan Suspended Three Games For Hit On Anaheim's Dan Sexton

Shane Doan has been Captain Canada for some time now and the captain of the Phoenix Coyotes for the past seven seasons. He is now suspended for the next three games due to this hit on Dan Sexton Sunday night:

NHL Vice President of Hockey Operations, Colin Campbell, had this to say about the hit:

"Doan delivered a late hit from the blind side to the head of an unsuspecting opponent," NHL Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations Colin Campbell said. "While it was fortunate that Sexton did not suffer an injury, the message should be clear that this is the type of hit that we want out of our game."

Doan has never been suspended before as this is a message that the league is trying to enforce before someone gets seriously injured.
