The Minnesota Vikings have finally done it. They've fired head coach Brad Childress. Jay Glazer of FOXSports.com reports the Vikings have fired Childress just a day after his team lost in embarrassing fashion to the Green Bay Packers, 31-3.
The Vikings were preseason Super Bowl contenders prior to the season but after 10 games they stand at 3-7 and all but eliminated from playoff talk. To say this season has been a disappointment is an understatement. From the 1-3 start to the season to the botched Randy Moss incident to the Brett Favre scandal, the Vikings season has been an absolute disaster.
The news of Childress' firing comes three days and a year after the Vikings handed him a contract extension through the 2013 season. Unfortunately for Childress and for Vikings fans, he couldn't replicate the magic he created in Minnesota in 2009
Vikings defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier has interviewed for multiple head coaching jobs over the past few years so he will likely be the in-house favorite to become the interim head coach.
Check out Daily Norseman for more on the Brad Childress news.
