Cowboys wide receiver Miles Austin was taken to the locker room late in the first quarter so his injured right arm could be further evaluated by the team medical staff. Austin's arm was struck by the knee of a Saints defender as he was going to the ground on a reception.
The ball came out of Austin's grasp as the receiver hit the ground. It was initially ruled a fumble, but a review revealed that Austin's elbow hit the ground before the ball came loose and the Cowboys maintained possession.
Austin's availability for the remainder of the game has yet to be determined.
UPDATE: The X-rays were negative and Austin returned to action early in the second quarter.
