Memphis Grizzlies center Hamed Haddadi and his girlfriend were both charged with assault by Memphis police on Thursday after the two allegedly attacked each other.
Authorities responded to a call at a apartment building in downtown Memphis and found Haddadi and his girlfriend, Goolnaz "Asal" Karbalaeinematmoeeney, covered in bruises and scratches. According to police, the incident began as a verbal argument but escalated and turned physical. Both were taken to the Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Haddadi hails from Iran. He has played in only four of the Grizzlies' 15 games this season.
