Over the weekend at the New York Times’ great Off The Dribble basketball blog, there was an interview that would make any sane basketball fan cringe. As soon as Reggie Miller said this:
I guess I just have a gift for gab. I guess that’s why TNT hired me.
Ugh. Reggie has a lot of gifts, but “gift of gab” isn’t one of them. He’s been a plague on TNT’s otherwise fabulous broadcasts ever since he arrived. He is AWFUL. Here, Cheryl's little brother expounds on his announcing strategy:
If you’re playing bad we’re going to tell you you’re playing bad, and if you’re playing great we’re going to tell you you’re playing great. There’s no in between, there’s no gray area.
And if you’re up 14 in the third quarter, Reggie will go absolutely nuts. Headache-inducing:

We don't need your gab, Reggie
YOU SAY “If you’re playing bad we’re going to tell you you’re playing bad, and if you’re playing great we’re going to tell you you’re playing great. There’s no in between, there’s no gray area.” THEN WE DON’T NEED YOU TO TELL US THE OBUSE. We need your insight and a little “If I were the one.” or "It is possible that .. he made that mistake … because of … based on my experience, etc etc.
