The New Jersey Nets' chances at a .500 record may have gone up in smokes with last night's loss to Philadelphia, but don't tell me the Nets have quit this season. Teams that quit don't hire motivational speakers to help their team, goddammit!↵
However, as with everything involving the Nets this year, this particular motivational speaker, Joachim de Posada, failed. Posada, a friend of assistant coach Del Harris and a relative of Yankees catcher Jorge Posada who markets himself as "an internationally acclaimed bilingual (English/Spanish) motivational Hispanic/Latino speaker," was trying to show the Nets that pain is all mental. To prove his point, Posada stuck a needle in his face, and was prepared to do more until the Nets stopped him.
The Nets were all pretty disturbed, but I for one think that's pretty original. At the same time, considering the audience, this would have been more appropriate.↵
