Let's be honest: Carlos Boozer has always been one to chase individual accolades. This makes him like most of the NBA, but if you had to pick one player who, after being snubbed from the All-Star Game, would do everything he could to prove he belonged, it would be Carlos Boozer.
That was bad news for the Los Angeles Clippers last night, because it was their player, Chris Kaman, that got picked to replace the injured Brandon Roy instead of Boozer. In response, Boozer went out and destroyed the Clippers, dropping 34 points and 14 rebounds in a comeback win. As SB Nation's Jazz blog SLC Dunk described:
If this was a heavyweight fight between the two, this one was a knockout in the fourth round. Excuse me for my complete lack of boxing knowledge when reading that last sentence.
Statement made Boozer.
Meanwhile, Kaman had 17 points, but shot just 5-14 and was shut down in the fourth quarter by Boozer himself. That's right, Carlos Boozer shut someone down on defense. Afterwards, Boozer admitted that he had something to prove after being snubbed.
Bottom line: Kaman over Boozer was the wrong decision then, and it's certainly the wrong decision now.
