Canada’s first test in the Olympics should be a resounding passing grade. Their 8-0 win over Norway should give some relief to fans and Canadians across Canada.
Dany Heatley and Jarome Iginla led the scoring for the Canadians with two goals a piece while Mike Richards, Corey Perry, Ryan Getzlaf, and Rick Nash all scored one goal a piece. Sidney Crosby led all players with three points, all assists.
Canada outshot Norway 42-15 while coverting on two of six powerplays. Five players had four shots a piece; Iginla, Heatley, Eric Staal, Perry, and Shea Weber.
For Norway, Pal Grotnes was the star for the Norwegians at least for the first period, stopping all 14 shots in the first period and allowed four goals on 28 shots before being pulled in the third period.
Canada will face Switzerland on Thursday while Norway will face off against the United States.
