Titans Punter Craig Hentrich Announces Retirement After 17 Seasons

After 17 years in the NFL, Craig Hentrich has decided to retire.

''The decision to retire came from old age," Hentrich said in a released statement. ''It's just been a ton of injuries the last three or four years. I think it's just my body telling me it's time to quit. I've been doing this for 17 years in the league and really 32 years of my life kicking footballs. I think my body is just tired. I am going finish rehabbing my knee and then enjoy some downtime, while I evaluate what challenge waits next for me.''

Hentrich played a total of 241 games throughout his career, registering 1,150 punts with a career average of 42.9 yards, and a career net average of 36.8 yards. His 399 punts inside the 20 ranks second all-time in NFL history.

''[I've considered retiring] probably about the last three years, but I've always felt like I could get one more in and still do a good job for them,'' Hentrich said. ''When I signed a six-year contract, my whole goal was just to finish that contract out. I've got one more year, but it all ended up for the best.''
