Canada, Switzerland Take Preliminary Match To Shootout

Believe it, hockey fans. Switzerland has pushed Canada their hardest tonight at BC Hockey Place in front of a packed, stunned Canadian crowd.

Tied at two through three periods and now through overtime, the teams will head to the shootout. A coin toss determines who shoots first. It’s a three-round contest just like in the NHL regular season, but if it isn’t decided after three shooters, teams can stick with one or two shooters, unlike the NHL.

Hiller has played lights out tonight and Brodeur has looked reliable, but not brilliant. Canada certainly has more scoring threats than the Swiss. Regardless of the finish, this has been a spectacular hockey game.
