2010 NFL Mock Draft Rd. 1
Rams: Sam Bradford (QB) – Oklahoma
The Rams need a franchise QB to build their team around. Spagnuola knows this, and Michael Vick is not the answer. Bradford’s arm will be fine. The last few years justify this pick: Flacco, Stanford, Ryan, Sanchez, Freeman, Young… Get my point.
Bucs: Gerald McCoy (DT/DE) – Oklahoma
The Bucs defensive line is absolutely horrendous. Eric Berry is a possibility but the defensive line is just absolutely horrendous. Ranked dead last against the run in the NFL.
Redskins: Russel Okung (OT) – Oklahoma State
Shanahan is content with Jason Campbell, and I think Campbell will thrive with his teaching and system. Shanahan likes running the ball. The Redskins line is absolutely horrendous.
Chiefs: Anthony Davis (OT) – Rutgers
After watching tape Davis has the most upside out of any offensive tackle in the draft. His work ethic and weight are a concern but something Charlie Weiss won’t have a problem dealing with. Chiefs have to protect Cassel’s blindside
Browns: Joe Haden (CB) – Florida – 5’11” 190lb
Desperate need of help in the secondary, and need a cover corner. The defense played very well towards the end of the season.
TRADE: 49ers trade 1st (13) and 3rd (81) round pick to Buffalo.
49ers: Rolondo McClain (LB) – Alabama
49ers get the top LB in the draft to team up with Patrick Willis. McClain is larger and can also play outside, helping the pass rush. Spikes is getting old. Now you have the best LB combo in the NFL
Jaguars: Tim Tebow (QB) – Florida
Tim Tebow should not be picked this high, but this is purely on the basis that he sells tickets. There is no doubt about it. Whether Jaguars trade down or not is an option. But they have to leave with Tebow. He will take time to develop but has the physical characteristics, and work ethic to do so.
TRADE - Texans trade 1st (20), 3rd (84), and 7th (204) for Dolphins 1st (12)
Texans: Derrick Morgan (OLB/DE) - Georgia Tech
Texans have to answer only one question. How do we beat Manning and the Colts? Bring the pressure and force turnovers. Derrick Morgan is one of the best DE in the draft and will perfectly compliment Williams and make the defensive line much stronger.
TRADE - from 49ers
Buffalo: Bryan Bulaga (OT) – Iowa
I think Gailey sticks with Trent Edwards. Edwards has potential. Bulaga is quickly moving up the boards and is a franchise LT. Need to find a LT before we find a QB
Seahawks: C.J. Spiller (RB) - Clemson
Walter Jones is retiring. Offensive lineman is an option here but they loose out on the top prospects. Seahawks take the best player available and explosive weapon this offense needs desperately. Carrol will use him the same way he used Bush in USC
49ers: Trent Williams (OT/RT) – Oklahoma
SF has a big need at RT, and Trent Williams is the perfect for the position
Steelers: Earl Thomas (S) – Texas
Steelers played poorly against the pass last season, partially due to Troy’s injury. The cornerbacks are getting old and played poorly. Early Thomas will perfectly compliment Troy, and dramatically improve Steelers pass defense. Hampton gets tagged.
Dolphins: Sergio Kindle (OLB/DE) - Texas
The Dolphins are loosing Jason Taylor and Porter. LB core is severely depleted. Moving down gives them more picks to shore up their defense. Nolan will work his magic.
Patriots: Brandon Graham (OLB/DE) - Michigan
One of the worst pass rushing teams in the NFL. Need to upgrade the 3-4 rush LB position. They grab Graham whose performance at the Senior Bowl was excellent and made a living in opponents back field. The Patriots could always move up for someone they really want as they have 3 second round picks.
Packers: Arthur Jones (DT/DE) - Syracuse
The Packers – according to numbers were rated as one of the best defenses in the NFL. In the game against Arizona, it did not matter. They could not apply pressure to Warner, and need to upgrade the 3-4DE position. Arthur Jones is good, very good.
TRADE - Buffalo trades 2nd (41) and 3rd (72) round picks to Eagles
Buffalo: Dan Williams (NT) - Tennessee
Buffalo gets the best NT in the draft and plug a very important hole in their new 3-4 defensive look.
Ravens: Damian Williams (WR) – USC
Flacco needs more weapons, simple as that.
Cardinals: Jimmy Clausen (QB) – Notre Dame
Yes, unless some team moves up I believe Clausen will drop this far. I’m not sold on Matt, nor is the front office. Bring in Clausen to provide competition, or maybe even provide a future franchise QB.
Cowboys: Mike Iupati (G) – Idaho
Fits perfectly into the Cowboys offensive line philosophy.
Jets: Golden Tate (WR) – Notre Dame
Jets are great on defense. They are great on the offensive line. But they need to get more weapons for their franchise QB. Tate is a great deep threat and talented receiver.
Colts: Maurkice Pouncey (G/C) - Syracuse
Very intelligent lineman who can play guard, center, and right tackle. Eventual successor of Jeff Saturday. Polian made it clear that the offensive line was an issue (Kind of makes me upset pointing fingers).
Saints: Everson Griffen (DE) - USC
The Saints have the longest list of significant free agents. Most importantly, they need to add pressure on the other side of their defensive line across Will Smith.
TOP TEN RD. 2
Rams: Eric Noorwood (DE) - Northwestern
Upgrade their DE/pass rush over Leanord Little. Give Chris long a nice sidekick
Lions: Jahvid Best (RB) - California
Best will upgrade running game, short passing game, and special teams.
Bucs: Arrelious Benn (WR) - Illinois
Desperate need of a starting no. 1 wide receiver
Chiefs: Terrence Cody (NT) - Alabama
Poili gets his next Wilfork. I don't care if he is fat. And his draft stock fell blah blah blah. You saw the BCS championship. You saw Alabama all season. This guy is a disruptive force. Now look at the Chiefs defensive line: Tyson Jackson, Terrence Cody, Glenn Dorsey. WoW.
Redskins: Charles Brown (OT) - USC
The biggest problem the Redskins had was on their offensive-line. Shanhan continues rebuilding this line and getting ready for their zone blocking scheme.
Browns: Taylor Mays (S) - USC
Mays falls and browns get additional help in their secondary.
Raiders: Carlos Dunlap (DE/DT) - Florida
Dunlap should not be take in the first round. Al Davis is peeing his pants because he fell to him in the second round. Still think he is over-rated.
Seahawks: Jason Fox (OT) - Miami
Walter Jones departure left a giant hole on the offensive line. Jason Fox anchored Miami's left side but then suffered a serious knee injury. He comes back healthy and is a good prospect
Trade: Pick received from Bills
Eagles: Reshad Jones (S) - Georgia
Eagles need serious help in the secondary. There last two games against the Cowboys were disaster. They could not stop the run, nor could they stop the pass. But they need more help in the corner and safety position.
Bucs: Jerry Hughes (OLB/DE) - TCU
- Dolphins: Jared Odrick (DT/DE) - Penn State
- Patriots: Ricky Sapp (OLB) - Clemson
More help in bringing pass rush and strengthening their linebackers
- Broncos: Cam Thomas (NT) - Tennessee
NT to properly change to the 3-4 defense
- Giants: Brand Spikes (LB) - Florida
Continue to work on the defense that played very poorly last season
- Patriots: Nate Allen (S) - South Florida
Get some help in the secondary that has been facing issues.
- Panthers: Brandon LaFell (WR) - LSU
The Panthers need a receiver to play across Steve Smith as Muhsin gets old.
- 49ers: Patrick Robinson (CB) - Florida State
SF needs to get some younger secondary players as Nate Clements gets old.
- Chiefs: Rob Gronkowski (TE) - Arizona
Continue to shore up offensive line, but need to find a replacement for the departed Gonzalez and find another weapon for Cassel to throw to. Polian loves his tight ends.
- Texans: Anthony Dixon (RB) - Mississippi State
Texans need a bruiser back to match up with Steve Slaten. I think all 245lbs of Dixon should do the job.
- Steelers: Joe McKnight (RB) - USC
Willie Parker is gone and McKnight will be a great change of pace back with Mendenhaul. He will also improve special teams and return team.
- Patriots: Jordan Shipley (WR) - Texas
Wes Welker is coming back from a knee injury and they lost TEs. Randy Moss situation is uncertain. Shipley is a very sure handed WR
- Bengals: Dexter McCluster (WR/KR)
Enhance special teams and provide Palmer with another weapon
- Eagles: Toby Gerhart (RB) - Stanford
Westbrooks future is uncertain. But when I watch and think about the Eagles games against the Cowboys, they confuse me. Why is McNabb stepping back 80% of the time and throwing? What happened to their running game? Gerhart will compliment McCoy and get that much closer to a superbowl.
- Packers: Vladimir Ducasse (G) - UMass
Strengthen an offensive line that surrendered way too many sacks
- Ravens: Novorro Bowman (LB) - Penn State
Lewis is getting old, could use some added depth at LB.
- Cardinals: Selvish Capers (OT) - West Virginia
Kurt Warner was beaten out of his football career. The line needs work to help protect their new QB, whoever it may be.
- Cowboys: Brandon Ghee (CB) - Wake Forest
The Cowboys got destroyed by Brett Favre's air attack. They have to improve at corner.
- Chargers: Lamarr Houston (DT/DE) - Texas
Help shore up a defensive line that needs help stopping the run
- Jets: Corey Wootton (DT/DE) - Northwestern
Continue to strengthen their already great defense. Always could use rotations at the 3-4 DE position to add pressure.
- Vikings: Torrell Troup (DT) - Central Florida
Not sure if Pat Williams is coming back, or retiring
- Colts: Jermaine Cunningham (OLB/DE) - Florida
Colts need depth at the DE position and it clearly showed in the superbowl.
- Saints: Sam Young (OT) - Notre Dame
They need depth at tackle.
