Remember when we said Canada was applying a ton of early pressure? Well, it hasn't really stopped.
First, Dan Boyle scored on the power play on a shot from along the dasher boards thanks to a beautifully placed screen by Patrick Marleau to give Canada a 2-0 lead.
Then, as Russia tried to respond in the Canadian end, Evgeni Malkin gave the puck up. Mike Richards and Jonathan Toews touched the puck along the way in assembly line-like fashion before Rick Nash finished the job to put Canada up 3-0.
Russia needed a response after this one and they got it just two minutes later as Dimitri Kalinin blasted a shot by Roberto Luongo. It took a bit of the wind out of the sails at Canada Hockey Place in Vancouver, but the atmosphere is still fantastic. Man, is this fun or what?
