Canada Scores Two, Russia Pulls Nabokov And Responds

5-1. This is getting a little ridiculous.

And as the period gets placed on that sentence, Shea Weber has added another. 6-1. Still ridiculous, and Ilya Bryzgalov has relieved Evgeni Nabokov. Russia better get their business in gear.

AND just as that period is placed on that sentence, Russia has responded with a goal of their own from Maxim Afinogenov. They just keep coming in a game where defense is apparently optional. This is kind of typical of two strong offensive teams in a tournament like this, though.

At the very least, it makes sense. It doesn't make sense that Canada has such a lead, but it's easy to understand why the offense has been the story and will be the story when this one is all said and done. These teams are put together hastily and they aren't able to develop the chemistry necessary to show cohesive team defense.

The result? A 6-2 score less than halfway through the hockey game. Russia isn't out of this one solely for the fact that this is an offensive contest.
