Apparently, Canada didn't want Russia feeling like they had a chance in this game. Just as they were maybe hoping that there was a glimmer of hope, Corey Perry decided to change all of that nonsense.
His second goal of the game made it 7-2 Canada, still with nine minutes left in the second period.
After a too many men on the ice penalty immediately following the goal, however, Sergei Gonchar blasted a shot from the point and past Roberto Luongo to make the score 7-3. Are five goals against this Canadian team out of the question? Yes, unless you have the offensive talent that Russia does.
