Quote Of The Olympics Goes To... Norway's Odd-Bjoern Hjelmeset!

Having not watched more than 20 minutes of the Olympics at any point over the past few weeks, I’m sort of cloudy on the context with this quote. But then, would context really make this any less crazy? From Sports Illustrated:

My name is Odd-Bjoern Hjelmeset. I skied the second lap and I f’d up today. I think I have seen too much porn in the last 14 days. I have the room next to Petter Northhug and every day there is noise in there. So I think that is the reason I f’d up. By the way, Tiger Woods is a really good man.

Hjelmeset finished with the Silver medal in an event called the 4-by-10 relay. But as a general rule, “watching too much porn” is never an acceptable excuse for underperformance. And also sort of sad. Chicks apparently don’t dig cross country skiing? At least Bode Miller could blame his failures on lots of beer and sex.

Throw in his roommate Peter North-hug and the random salutation to Tiger, and indeed, you’ve got the most bizarre quote ever, made even more perfect by its source, some Norwegian guy named “Odd-Bjoern.”
