Greivis Vasquez Mopped the Floor, But not With Clemson

Despite a slow start that had them down 15 points in the first half, Maryland posted a late rally to beat Clemson at home and solidify their position of second place in the ACC. Greivis Vasquez finished with 15 points, though his stat line reveals a less than spectacular 5-for-13 performance from the floor. Barely an outing worthy of a "Huevos!" from noted Maryland homer Scott Van Pelt. ↵

↵His shooting may have been pedestrian, but his mop technique was par excellence. When teammate Sean Mosley was knocked to the floor with five and a half minutes remaining, a ref summoned a kid with a mop to clean the floor. Seeing that the kid was unable to locate the perspiration on the court, Vasquez grabbed the mop and took the liberty of scrubbing the spot himself. The announcers were enamored with his tidiness. ↵

↵⇥“Here’s Vasquez doing it all [laughter]. You can’t really be serious about that. Not only does he assist his teammates, he assists the guys with the mops … Do you think that Vasquez understands the concept of showmanship?” ↵
↵

↵He's a regular Gene Kelly, that kid. ↵
