Nationwide Series from Vegas: Live chat thread

The Nationwide Series race is getting close to starting here in Las Vegas. Let’s start a little chat room here.

If you post a response, I’ll try my best to answer your questions.

Pretty sure Kyle Busch is going to win today. And of course, there’s the John Wes Townley/Danica bet.

Discuss.

Wait…was that a joke or really? A real live Menard fan???

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 27, 2010 6:00 PM EST up reply actions

Yea. I am Menard fan! Mainly because he joined Yates Racing last year. I was and still am a Yates fan.

by Cliff Cox on Feb 27, 2010 6:02 PM EST up reply actions

Damn dude…I salute you! Do you ever follow @canadian_speed on twitter? He is like the biggest Menard hater ever…but it’s kind of funny.

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 27, 2010 6:03 PM EST up reply actions

I don’t want to follow people that are gonna hate on my drivers. Also rooting for Jason Leffler & Mike Wallace. I hate Keselowski!

by Cliff Cox on Feb 27, 2010 6:06 PM EST up reply actions

Wow, you definitely like the underdogs, Cliff!

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 27, 2010 6:10 PM EST up reply actions

I like this chat thing. U should do this tomorrow!

by Cliff Cox on Feb 27, 2010 6:12 PM EST up reply actions

I might…hard to keep up with so much stuff during the race. But I might!

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 27, 2010 6:14 PM EST up reply actions

If u think my picks in the Nationwide are underdogs. U wanna hear who I root for in the Cup series?

by Cliff Cox on Feb 27, 2010 6:26 PM EST up reply actions

Of course. Terry Cook and Travis Kvapil? :)

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 27, 2010 6:29 PM EST up reply actions

U guessed one. Paul Menard, Travis Kvapil, David Gilliland, Elliott Sadler, & Regan Smith. Oh and I forgot to mention I also like Stephen Leicht in the Nationwide. I just wish he was in a better car and make some races.

by Cliff Cox on Feb 27, 2010 6:34 PM EST up reply actions

Hey I like Paul too Jeff!

by Scrapgirl933 on Feb 27, 2010 6:07 PM EST up reply actions

You do??? I didn’t know that! Wow, that’s hardcore!

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 27, 2010 6:09 PM EST up reply actions

I’m with Jeff on this one…Paul Menard has fans? I’m more shocked to hear that than anything I’ve heard this whole day…

by ScottyfromGA on Feb 27, 2010 6:13 PM EST up reply actions

What else have you heard shocking today? Besides Scott Speed peeing in the shower?

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 27, 2010 6:14 PM EST up reply actions

Buckshot

How’s this one:

Anyone remember Buckshot Jones? My hubby and I were HUGE Buckshot fans to the extent I’ve still got some hard feeling about Kyle Petty the way things were handled when he was let go. He was the first driver I ever knew who talked to fans online. He chatted with us some on this website. I STILL miss that guy.

How’s that for an underdog? LOL

by Drusylla on Feb 27, 2010 6:21 PM EST up reply actions

That’s pretty impressive! Props to you!

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 27, 2010 6:24 PM EST up reply actions

Yup, I can blame it on a friend of mine, I stood in line to get her his autograph years ago and he won me over when I told him all of the stuff he was signing was for her birthday and we had a 5 minute convo about her and he signed the pic to her “Happy 26th birthday”…..after that I had to cheer for him.

by Scrapgirl933 on Feb 27, 2010 6:14 PM EST up reply actions

Aww, that’s cool. Sometimes it’s the little things, huh?

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 27, 2010 6:24 PM EST up reply actions

TV

What channel will today’s race be shown when it goes over its time slot? Stay on ESPN2?

by BSargentOKC on Feb 27, 2010 5:58 PM EST reply actions

That’s a good question, but I think they’d move whatever other programming was supposed to come on. They don’t typically move a live event.

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 27, 2010 6:01 PM EST up reply actions

Let’s hope its not like the time ABC punted us for the funniest home videos at the end of the race!

"It's better to be a lion for a day than a lamb your entire life"

by MsKit on Feb 27, 2010 6:03 PM EST up reply actions

You would have HOPED they’d learn their lesson from that.

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 27, 2010 6:05 PM EST up reply actions

There is no way they bump the epic Illinois State / Northern Iowa game. Get ready to move to Classic

by damille9 on Feb 27, 2010 6:12 PM EST up reply actions

EPIC!!!! Wow…we can’t miss that!

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 27, 2010 6:15 PM EST up reply actions

I hope it doesn’t get bumped to ESPN Classic. I don’t have it on my DirecTV package.

by BSargentOKC on Feb 27, 2010 6:34 PM EST up reply actions

trying to jinx him, huh

by trishalistic on Feb 27, 2010 5:59 PM EST reply actions

Nah! My predictions are always what I actually REALLY think….sadly, I’m wrong THAT often. Ouch!

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 27, 2010 6:01 PM EST up reply actions

you to take your crystal ball to the repair shop

by trishalistic on Feb 27, 2010 6:07 PM EST up reply actions

Repair? It never worked! :)

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 27, 2010 6:10 PM EST up reply actions

Unless you pick Jimmie, I feel bad for whoever you choose to win. Chances are, they’re going to lose. LOL

by Lisa1 on Feb 27, 2010 6:10 PM EST up reply actions

maybe that will work to the other drivers advantage…Jeff make JJ your winner every week lol

by trishalistic on Feb 27, 2010 6:11 PM EST up reply actions

that is so what he needs to do! as soon as I see his ‘pick’ wreck out, I think, ‘oh, no, not again!’ lol

by Lisa1 on Feb 27, 2010 6:13 PM EST up reply actions

Yeah but I picked JJ last week and he won, so it didn’t work. He’s immune to it. I tried, sorry.

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 27, 2010 6:15 PM EST up reply actions

it’s that lucky horseshoe…someone needs to steal it

by trishalistic on Feb 27, 2010 6:16 PM EST up reply actions

Um…Trish? I don’t know about you, but I’m not going up there!

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 27, 2010 6:24 PM EST up reply actions

oh, Jeff-you had to go there…I wasnt even thinking that!

by trishalistic on Feb 27, 2010 6:46 PM EST up reply actions

testing testing, 1…2…..3?

by ScottyfromGA on Feb 27, 2010 5:59 PM EST reply actions

It works. I hear you. Mic check, 1-2, 1-2.

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 27, 2010 6:01 PM EST up reply actions

thought about doing the old Beavis call, “Testes….Testes…1….2……3?” but I didnt know if that would pass or not…HA!

by ScottyfromGA on Feb 27, 2010 6:03 PM EST up reply actions

Well, apparently it just did!

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 27, 2010 6:05 PM EST up reply actions

Not on purpose! I just stink at guessing. But remember here last year…Kyle was AWESOME…then he wrecked by himself.

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 27, 2010 6:02 PM EST up reply actions

Good Point! I guess there’s always hope. LOL!

I have to admit I’m picking biased but I’m going with Harvick. Was an awesome lap he posted. Would be nice to see a rebound after last week too.

by Drusylla on Feb 27, 2010 6:04 PM EST up reply actions

Danica

I’m guessing she’s going to be the first wreck!

"It's better to be a lion for a day than a lamb your entire life"

by MsKit on Feb 27, 2010 6:00 PM EST reply actions

Maybe…but I think she’ll stay out of trouble. She’ll just be SLOW.

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 27, 2010 6:02 PM EST up reply actions

Danica

Think Danica has one of those GoDaddy T-shirts on under her firesuit?

by trophyguy™ on Feb 27, 2010 6:00 PM EST reply actions

You know….I’m just not gonna go there. Haha!

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 27, 2010 6:03 PM EST up reply actions

Boogity boogity? Or not a fan of that?

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 27, 2010 6:04 PM EST up reply actions

Probably, Mike. BTW, thanks for the Navy coin. I told everyone about it.

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 27, 2010 6:04 PM EST up reply actions

You rwelcome. Glad you liked it.

by SubmarineMike on Feb 27, 2010 6:09 PM EST up reply actions

Bet re Danica-JWT

Still think Danica will come out on top – She wants to learn, she knows she has a lot to learn and she won’t give up.

by Ceejaytravels on Feb 27, 2010 6:03 PM EST reply actions

JWT is up 2-0 though…he could be up 3-0 going into June. She is way slow here, I gotta say. I’m just being honest.

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 27, 2010 6:07 PM EST up reply actions

Understand – but I am all for the underdog!!!

by Ceejaytravels on Feb 27, 2010 6:12 PM EST up reply actions

Test

First time doing this. Did it come through?

by missouriracefan on Feb 27, 2010 6:04 PM EST reply actions

I hear you! Let’s talk about your favorite driver DANICA!!!!! (just kidding)

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 27, 2010 6:07 PM EST up reply actions

Danica

Don’t make me have to get your momma after you. I know she is there this weekend. :-)

by missouriracefan on Feb 27, 2010 6:12 PM EST up reply actions

Chat

Looking forward to a great race. I like Kyle’s chances. I work for Toyota so I want to see a lot of Toyota’s in the top 10 – Let’s go racing!!!

by Ceejaytravels on Feb 27, 2010 6:05 PM EST reply actions

What do you do for Toyota?

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 27, 2010 6:10 PM EST up reply actions

“Legally” speaking – if I told you I would have to make you sign a non-disclosure!

by Ceejaytravels on Feb 27, 2010 6:14 PM EST up reply actions

Top secret! OK, got it!

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 27, 2010 6:17 PM EST up reply actions

You did get the hint? Right?

by Ceejaytravels on Feb 27, 2010 6:20 PM EST up reply actions

I did. But you’re not above the “law” so you might get in trouble if you said

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 27, 2010 6:23 PM EST up reply actions

is it important to let folks know that its her last time in the car for 4 months? Sheesh….

by ScottyfromGA on Feb 27, 2010 6:06 PM EST reply actions

I don’t know about you, but I will be SO GLAD to be clear of the hype for awhile.

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 27, 2010 6:10 PM EST up reply actions

i like dws call better than espn..s

by dalejrfangirl on Feb 27, 2010 6:06 PM EST reply actions

What would the ideal call be?

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 27, 2010 6:11 PM EST up reply actions

Jeff, do you have on your Go Daddy jacket & #7 hat? ;)

by Lisa1 on Feb 27, 2010 6:07 PM EST reply actions

I…uh…left it at home :)

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 27, 2010 6:11 PM EST up reply actions

She has a merchandise trailer outside of the track, no? Quick, go like the wind, & buy a new one!

by Lisa1 on Feb 27, 2010 6:14 PM EST up reply actions

Yeah…the longest lines of ANY driver!!! Even Junior. Amazing.

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 27, 2010 6:17 PM EST up reply actions

Click "auto-refresh" button

That automatically adds all the new responses every few seconds.

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 27, 2010 6:08 PM EST reply actions

it just took me 5 minutes to find the auto refresh button. Well hidden. lol

by Amanda Eberts on Feb 27, 2010 6:34 PM EST up reply actions

Command for racing

Seriously, these people need training – Kate Walsh did a great job in CA – some of them, especially the men are just wimpy. Where’s their excitement? Looking forward to the day when I can give the command. Jeff- can you help me with that?

by Ceejaytravels on Feb 27, 2010 6:08 PM EST reply actions

Maybe the men need a couple of samples of Extenze first! Women are always fired up…about racing!

"It's better to be a lion for a day than a lamb your entire life"

by MsKit on Feb 27, 2010 6:09 PM EST up reply actions

only 27 and I thought about trying a few samples….and im being serious about that!

by ScottyfromGA on Feb 27, 2010 6:11 PM EST up reply actions

I’ve ALWAYS wanted to do the command. I practiced in my car once. Someday…

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 27, 2010 6:11 PM EST up reply actions

New command

Is there some reason they use “drivers” instead of something like “ladies and gentlemen”?

by Andrew Glazier on Feb 27, 2010 6:08 PM EST reply actions

It sounds weird to say “Lady and gentlemen.” Plus that’s too many words. I’m just guessing, but I like them sticking to four words.

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 27, 2010 6:12 PM EST up reply actions

Don’t you think its kinda funny how Dale Jr wants to be called Dale, but in that NW insurance commercials Pops Eury calls him Junior?

you and me both, Junior….I will start saying it all day now…

by ScottyfromGA on Feb 27, 2010 6:09 PM EST reply actions

I called him Dale the other day…no reaction. I was wondering if it’d get a smile or something.

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 27, 2010 6:12 PM EST up reply actions

Danica says she is going for a top 25 today. What do you think about that, Better of Worse?

by JBeck on Feb 27, 2010 6:10 PM EST reply actions

worse!

"It's better to be a lion for a day than a lamb your entire life"

by MsKit on Feb 27, 2010 6:11 PM EST up reply actions

No chance. I’m sorry, I don’t mean to be a hater, but no chance.

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 27, 2010 6:13 PM EST up reply actions

Thats the reply i was hoping to get, but dont judge me as a Danica hater

by JBeck on Feb 27, 2010 6:14 PM EST up reply actions

I don’t hate her I just think that if she wants to come over to NASCAR then do it all the way don’t come for 3 races and go back to IRL for 6 months! Make a decision.

"It's better to be a lion for a day than a lamb your entire life"

by MsKit on Feb 27, 2010 6:17 PM EST up reply actions

Yeah but that’d never work…she’d make the jump and fail…at least now she can fall back on IRL

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 27, 2010 6:18 PM EST up reply actions

im saying at least 2.

by JBeck on Feb 27, 2010 6:16 PM EST up reply actions

i mean to be honest she was almost a half lap down before the green flag, and i dont see her going anywhere but back

by JBeck on Feb 27, 2010 6:17 PM EST up reply actions

I’d say 3 based on her last performance

"It's better to be a lion for a day than a lamb your entire life"

by MsKit on Feb 27, 2010 6:18 PM EST up reply actions

only way she gets a top 25 is if everyone else wrecks out.

by Scrapgirl933 on Feb 27, 2010 6:16 PM EST up reply actions

HA…they went to Jamie Little and she had a track blower right behind her….nice producing ESPN!

by ScottyfromGA on Feb 27, 2010 6:14 PM EST reply actions

Alright Jeff did you see Kyle's interview during rain delay

When asked about Brad K. (who was up with Allen, Rusty and Brad) said he was aggressive like h was at one point but Kyle claimed he didn’t wreck people EVERY week like Brad does (alledgedly) Do you agree with him?

by SubmarineMike on Feb 27, 2010 6:15 PM EST reply actions

much as I hate to say it…hard to wreck people when you are out front with clear track ahead

by trishalistic on Feb 27, 2010 6:18 PM EST up reply actions

I didn’t see the interview…but most drivers agree with Kyle.

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 27, 2010 6:19 PM EST up reply actions

Did Rusty Wallace just say “Warsh”?!? AHAHHAHA!!

by ScottyfromGA on Feb 27, 2010 6:18 PM EST reply actions

Warsh was he referring to?

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 27, 2010 6:22 PM EST up reply actions

brad and kyle r alot alike..they dont car about makin friends..like care about the win..

by dalejrfangirl on Feb 27, 2010 6:19 PM EST reply actions

I would agree with that…I don’t think you’re far off there.

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 27, 2010 6:23 PM EST up reply actions

oh please Trish

Kyle has wrecked a LOT of drivers. Why do you think a lot of the truck series drivers hate Kyle.

by SubmarineMike on Feb 27, 2010 6:19 PM EST reply actions

I thought we were just talking cup…sorry Mike-totally true in trucks

by trishalistic on Feb 27, 2010 6:20 PM EST up reply actions

I’m not a fan of his btw

by trishalistic on Feb 27, 2010 6:22 PM EST up reply actions

Kelly Bires already into the wall. what was junior thinking hiring him.

by JBeck on Feb 27, 2010 6:19 PM EST reply actions

I think Kelly is a good driver…he has talent. Just my opinion.

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 27, 2010 6:21 PM EST up reply actions

i agree he has talent and everyone has their opinion, but i dont think he can deal with the pressure of driving with junior that everyone is putting on him.

by JBeck on Feb 27, 2010 6:24 PM EST up reply actions

don’t think that was Kelly’s fault. Looks like something broke or a tire went. Can’t blame that on him. He’s a great talent if given the chance!

by Scrapgirl933 on Feb 27, 2010 6:21 PM EST up reply actions

Pops is saying something broke on the car for sure

"It's better to be a lion for a day than a lamb your entire life"

by MsKit on Feb 27, 2010 6:25 PM EST up reply actions

now that i saw the replay is obviously wasnt his fault.

by JBeck on Feb 27, 2010 6:26 PM EST up reply actions

Yeah my issue was with his claim

he didn’t wreck people when he was aggressive. Agian he is a hypocrite

by SubmarineMike on Feb 27, 2010 6:20 PM EST reply actions

6 laps in and already a wreck, WTF.

by Amanda Eberts on Feb 27, 2010 6:20 PM EST reply actions

surprised it was Danica

"It's better to be a lion for a day than a lamb your entire life"

by MsKit on Feb 27, 2010 6:23 PM EST up reply actions

You mean “wasn’t?”

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 27, 2010 6:25 PM EST up reply actions

Oops typo! should have been wasn’t!

"It's better to be a lion for a day than a lamb your entire life"

by MsKit on Feb 27, 2010 6:26 PM EST up reply actions

defenately not kellys fault..im rootin for him do well..just not his day

by dalejrfangirl on Feb 27, 2010 6:22 PM EST reply actions

I agree…not his fault there.

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 27, 2010 6:22 PM EST up reply actions

Quick story about Kelly Bires

So the other night I was at this go-karting event that Kurt Busch was hosting. And in the prelim round, all the NASCAR drivers who were there had a heat race.

Kelly Bires was fastest — he beat Kurt, Montoya, Truex, Keselowski, Hornish, etc….

So the guy can drive, clearly!

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 27, 2010 6:22 PM EST reply actions

I agree-he has it in him

by trishalistic on Feb 27, 2010 6:25 PM EST up reply actions

agree as well, he’s a great talent. I just hope JRM sticks with him enough to show it.

by Scrapgirl933 on Feb 27, 2010 6:27 PM EST up reply actions

That sucked. We were at commercial..

by Sky inLas Vegas on Feb 27, 2010 6:24 PM EST reply actions

Jerry Punch

Soooo much better in the garage than he ever was in the booth

by damille9 on Feb 27, 2010 6:25 PM EST reply actions

for sure…wonder why they ever put him in the booth

by trishalistic on Feb 27, 2010 6:26 PM EST up reply actions

at least we don’t have to listen to DW! That man needs to stay retired!

"It's better to be a lion for a day than a lamb your entire life"

by MsKit on Feb 27, 2010 6:27 PM EST up reply actions

LOL my secret’s out!

"It's better to be a lion for a day than a lamb your entire life"

by MsKit on Feb 27, 2010 6:29 PM EST up reply actions

Yeah…he wasn’t enjoyable to listen to there. I like Marty Reid.

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 27, 2010 6:27 PM EST up reply actions

Scott Speed

Why did Speed have to race in for tomorrow? Is that something he is going to have to do every week?

by Amanda Eberts on Feb 27, 2010 6:26 PM EST reply actions

Yeah…he wasn’t in the top 35 last year. So he’ll have to race in for the first five races. But he’s doing well enough that he should be in the top 35 after that. He just needs to make sure he doesn’t miss a race.

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 27, 2010 6:28 PM EST up reply actions

he seems like a good guy…except for that peeing in the shower deal

by trishalistic on Feb 27, 2010 6:30 PM EST up reply actions

the nascar site says he finished 35th in points last year though?

by JBeck on Feb 27, 2010 6:31 PM EST up reply actions

35th in drivers points, but the 82 was like 37th in owners points. He raced 2 races in Nemechek’s 87 car

by jshaunburke on Feb 27, 2010 6:32 PM EST up reply actions

He seems like a character, if you don’t already follow him on twitter you should, Hilarious.

by Amanda Eberts on Feb 27, 2010 6:38 PM EST up reply actions

wow Danica up 9 spots

only thing better would be Brad to win and both Dimmy Hamlin and Kryle Busch to have engine problems LOL

by SubmarineMike on Feb 27, 2010 6:26 PM EST reply actions

Dimmy and Kryle? How about “John Wrecks”

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 27, 2010 6:28 PM EST up reply actions

What are you Hmmm-ing? I don’t think that was his fault.

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 27, 2010 6:28 PM EST up reply actions

It wasn’t his fault. But, you know, him being such a good driver and, oh yeah, if I remember YOU correctly, should have been in at Daytona rather than “that girl”. Especially since he is such a household name and, oh yeah, the sales at his trailer are….well…does he even HAVE a trailer? Or just part of one??? ;)

by Sky inLas Vegas on Feb 27, 2010 6:32 PM EST up reply actions

Haha….ohhhhh I missed this. You’re right….score one for you. :)

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 27, 2010 6:34 PM EST up reply actions

He’s quiet and polite, in my experience.

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 27, 2010 6:32 PM EST up reply actions

Wow

Looks like a desert rally out there

by damille9 on Feb 27, 2010 6:31 PM EST reply actions

COME ON BRAD

stay in Hamlin’ hea.. you have had him rattled mentally for a while now LOL

by SubmarineMike on Feb 27, 2010 6:33 PM EST reply actions

Caution

LOL 81 says that sucked! No kidding

"It's better to be a lion for a day than a lamb your entire life"

by MsKit on Feb 27, 2010 6:33 PM EST reply actions

Dang

Michael McDowell is one of the nicest, friendliest guys in the garage. Hate to see him wreck.

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 27, 2010 6:33 PM EST reply actions

yea and he had sponsorship this week too!

by Scrapgirl933 on Feb 27, 2010 6:35 PM EST up reply actions

Uh oh, time for 250 replays about how Danica missed that!

by jshaunburke on Feb 27, 2010 6:33 PM EST reply actions

Haha!!! You called it! “Wow, Danica got through there!!”

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 27, 2010 6:34 PM EST up reply actions

is it sad, i didn’t want to see her get threw that, the TV announcers keep talking about her.

by Amanda Eberts on Feb 27, 2010 6:36 PM EST up reply actions

maybe she has a magic wand up a&! instead of a horseshoe!

"It's better to be a lion for a day than a lamb your entire life"

by MsKit on Feb 27, 2010 6:35 PM EST up reply actions

So many people these days have so many things in their asses, apparently. Must be something wrong with the seats.

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 27, 2010 6:37 PM EST up reply actions

Of course everyone is spinning in front of her. There isn’t anyone behind her

by damille9 on Feb 27, 2010 6:37 PM EST up reply actions

i never thought that nascar would come to this, instead of running up front for tv time, all you have to do is hang out in the back and joy ride with danica

by JBeck on Feb 27, 2010 6:35 PM EST reply actions

ESPN loves them some Danica. Danica = ratings… ratings = money. Can you blame them?

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 27, 2010 6:37 PM EST up reply actions

no i cant, cus who dosent love money, but id justrather see people up front racing instead of her joy riding you know?

by JBeck on Feb 27, 2010 6:40 PM EST up reply actions

no i cant but its annoying when she is back in the pack 3 laps down. and they keep showing her.

by dalejrfangirl on Feb 27, 2010 6:37 PM EST reply actions

I guess that’s good and bad. Bad for the series because it got exposure, but good because we’ll actually watch the racing up front!

err..dont say the r word..lol

Spotters

I listen to Gordon during cup races and his spotter gives him minimum info. It’s weird hearing ALL the info Kyle Busch’s spotter gives him. Says “To your fender, to your door, to your hood, etc”

by jshaunburke on Feb 27, 2010 6:38 PM EST reply actions

Kyle has said in the past that Dickerson “drives the car” for him sometimes.

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 27, 2010 6:39 PM EST up reply actions

its weird to listen to other drivers sometimes. Some like lots of info, others don’t.

How do you do it?

This is hard keeping up with the race on TV, tweets and chatting. Glad I know how to multi-task – just don’t want to miss anything! Thanks for doing this – it adds to the experience!

The only driver I really “root” for is Justin Marks in the ARCA series. We were in the same elementary school classes and grew up in the same hometown (Los Altos, CA). I think that’s really neat, so I like to see him do well. Other than that, I like to see good stories but I don’t have “favorites.”

Speaking of Brian. He’s the real deal. I predict he’ll be in a 4th Gibbs cup car by end of the year!

by jshaunburke on Feb 27, 2010 6:57 PM EST reply actions

That’s a little ambitious. Brian is a good driver with potential. But I think someone like Kasey Kahne or Kevin Harvick will be in the 4th Gibbs car.

we think alike Jeff, I think there are 3 possibilities for Kahne and Harvick…..Gibbs 4th car, Stewart-Haas or for Kasey replacing Kevin at RCR

by Scrapgirl933 on Feb 27, 2010 7:01 PM EST up reply actions

There’s a weird rumor that keeps popping up every now and then that Harvick could end up at Red Bull.

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 27, 2010 7:02 PM EST up reply actions

now that would be weird. Can’t see him at Red Bull.

I remember us having this convo about Kasey last year at the Charlotte tweet-up and you said RCR wouldn’t be a step up for Kasey. I know its early in the year, but how about now with the RCR turn around?

Never thought about that. Money’s already tight for the year and now all these wrecked cars. She doesn’t have to worry about sponsorship. It’s already set for her. But I hope they can pull sponsorship from somewhere for Kelly to race the whole season.

then he had a truck ride at Daytona and got caught in a wreck the kid just doesn’t have any luck

by bullsfan24 on Feb 27, 2010 7:37 PM EST up reply actions

I watched him at a truck race in Talladega couple years ago. He didn’t say how the car was handling or anything, it was the spotter and crew chief telling him what to do! He finished 5th in his “learning experience”. Not 3 laps off the pace!

by jshaunburke on Feb 27, 2010 7:40 PM EST up reply actions

I agree the kid gets it he just needs to have more time in the car and not these race 1 week and off the next 2 Dale Jr. gave Brad K enough time to learn the same with Joe Gibbs with Lagano give Landon more then just one race and I think he’ll do great

I wonder what Roush was thinking putting Stenhouse in the 6 and Braun in 16; exactly opposite of last year!

by jshaunburke on Feb 27, 2010 7:43 PM EST reply actions

wonder why put them in Nationwide and not leave them in Truck for another year or so?

Didn’t Roush pull out of Trucks?

by jr88freak on Feb 27, 2010 7:46 PM EST up reply actions

Yes they did don’t know why though, maybe there is more money in Nationwide than in the truck series

"It's better to be a lion for a day than a lamb your entire life"

by MsKit on Feb 27, 2010 7:47 PM EST up reply actions

I think Braun was ready. Stenhouse’s boneheaded move in ARCA couple years ago tells he he should be racing online!

by jshaunburke on Feb 27, 2010 7:47 PM EST up reply actions

kind of wondered that too….

and I hate both of those cars don’t have sponsors this week.

by Scrapgirl933 on Feb 27, 2010 7:45 PM EST up reply actions

I think they only have sponsorship for half of the season for both of them

with all them doing bad I have to think Landon Cassill would do good and should get a ride

by bullsfan24 on Feb 27, 2010 7:47 PM EST reply actions

well when you think about it the Nationwide series is supposed to be for the rookies and not the experienced drivers that run in the Cup series. Can’t expect them to learn in Cup.

have y’all not heard about vortex which occurs when all cars on track? With wind generated from running at full speed, keeps rain away.

by MT Hundley on Feb 27, 2010 8:03 PM EST up reply actions

Vortex Theory is DW’s theory. If DW made it up, it’s probably hogwash! LOL

by jshaunburke on Feb 27, 2010 8:05 PM EST up reply actions

Absolutely. Was at the 600 last year, if they had just kept the cars on the track they probably could have finished the race. You could actually see the storms breaking up over the track

by damille9 on Feb 27, 2010 8:06 PM EST up reply actions

I don’t even want to think about the 600 last year, that was miserable to sit through at the track

I’ll open up a raceday chat thread tomorrow if you guys want for the Cup race. I had fun chatting here.

by MT Hundley on Feb 27, 2010 8:18 PM EST reply actions

he was just on Twitter saying his engine blew up?

Didn’t park him, they saw him starting to smoke right in front of the leaders and told him that he should probably drop down before something happened

by kwms on Feb 27, 2010 8:38 PM EST up reply actions

Yeah, I think he’s taking blame for it. I’ll be intersting if he stomps off or mans up after race and stays for interview.

Why should EVERYONE make excuses when people break the law because they have money/celebrity?

by Sky inLas Vegas on Feb 27, 2010 8:52 PM EST up reply actions

I don’t think what JWT did was worse than what AJ and Kurt Busch did. I actually think AJ and Kurt was worse and should have gotten more that what they did. But underage drinking… I guess I don’t see that as a big “no-no”. Happens all the time….everywhere.

Just wondering what the court will hand him and how hard (or easy) they will do on him. And isn’t this the first that NASCAR had to deal with the underage problem? Interesting to see what a stance they put on. But his punishment in NASCAR should be no worse than Kurt and AJ got. Just sayin’.
