I've got the first post

Jeff you should have taken that pic of Kim for all of us guys outhere. She is only famous for 1 thing. HER BUTT LOL

by SubmarineMike on Feb 28, 2010 1:37 PM EST reply actions

I would have, dude, but my phone is still busted! I’ll have it fixed soon. She did have a big ol’ booty.

No Kim Kardashian. She’s fabulous.

11&18 Media Frenzy

Wonder how much attention Denny and Kyle will get today after they wreck after crying about no attention yesterday…?

by _tjae_ on Feb 28, 2010 1:44 PM EST reply actions

I guess they’re pissed? Why? Get over it. I am.

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 28, 2010 1:46 PM EST up reply actions

Probably more attention than they will want, then it will be don’t jump on us right after we wreck, or it will be no comment!

"It's better to be a lion for a day than a lamb your entire life"

by MsKit on Feb 28, 2010 1:46 PM EST up reply actions

Absolutely. Kyles big complaint is ESPN showed him walking away, he claims no one talked to him. Maybe people wouldn’t have just assumed he was walking away after a crappy run had he not acted like such a baby in the past.

by _tjae_ on Feb 28, 2010 1:49 PM EST up reply actions

I am not for sure, so maybe someone can answer this for me — but is it uncommon for a car that came in 2nd place to not get asked any questions during a media session?

by rowdyfan on Feb 28, 2010 3:11 PM EST up reply actions

Maybe?

I think that the top 3 and the highest finishing rookie have to attend the media session. I know that is the rule for Cup may be different for NW.

by Karla Figueroa on Feb 28, 2010 3:13 PM EST up reply actions

denny seemed upset that he didn’t get asked any questions and I would imagine that I would have been upset too if I finished 2nd and got no questions.

kyle seemed upset by what the shot made him look like. I thought he was pissed too and declined an interview. it was a bad shot. they know what people would think about it. lol

Guessing Game

How many cautions today?

"It's better to be a lion for a day than a lamb your entire life"

by MsKit on Feb 28, 2010 1:45 PM EST reply actions

5 cautions…with MM taking the checkers

by trishalistic on Feb 28, 2010 1:55 PM EST up reply actions

I’m guessing 7 especially with this new 3 attempts at a GWC

My pick for today’s race is Jeff Burton. Glad to see RCR get off to a strong start.

by BSargentOKC on Feb 28, 2010 1:45 PM EST reply actions

If not Burton I’d like to see the Biff get another win he’s due too!

Denny is always mad

because he knows hat brad K is in his head LOL

by SubmarineMike on Feb 28, 2010 1:49 PM EST reply actions

What?!

Denny is not mad. Kyle Busch is always the one being a pussy over finishing 2nd or worse. And dumbass Brad wrecks someone EVERY WEEK (and that’s being generous). Even Kyle sees that!

Prediction

Okay I just simulated the race in NASCAR 09 on my PlayStation 2 & the winner was… Elliott Sadler!!

by Cliff Cox on Feb 28, 2010 1:57 PM EST reply actions

Haha, good luck with that!

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 28, 2010 1:57 PM EST up reply actions

U gotta believe! Go Elliott!

by Cliff Cox on Feb 28, 2010 1:59 PM EST up reply actions

YES!

I got someone to side with me! Elliott said the car got better in final practice. Just got a lot of cars to pass.

by Cliff Cox on Feb 28, 2010 2:04 PM EST up reply actions

Twitter fail is fail.

Seriously.

And I feel bad for the racing folks who were banking on twitter to get updates about the hockey game. Doesn’t seem likely at this point!

by ChicknLil on Feb 28, 2010 2:08 PM EST reply actions

I agree. My timeline has been down for 12 hours so far. I’m having to go through all my lists to get updates and then go into my @replies to get any mentions of me. It’s seriously on my nervous. Doesn’t look like it’s going to get fixed soon.

by jr88freak on Feb 28, 2010 2:10 PM EST up reply actions

Mine appears to have been down for 10. Lists are working for you though?

by ChicknLil on Feb 28, 2010 2:17 PM EST up reply actions

Yes lists are working for me! That’s where I see what everyone is saying. My timeline looks like i’m talking to myself! Nothing but my status.

by jr88freak on Feb 28, 2010 2:22 PM EST up reply actions

Sigh…lists are not working for me. Just tried with a new list. Not cool.

by ChicknLil on Feb 28, 2010 2:32 PM EST up reply actions

A Slice of Pizzi

I’ll have to agree with Chris Myers on that. Be crying more than you’re laughing. Awful segment. Awful.

by jr88freak on Feb 28, 2010 2:08 PM EST reply actions

Horribad. Thank god for mute buttons.

by ChicknLil on Feb 28, 2010 2:14 PM EST up reply actions

I hope all nascar fans are embarassed to have to watch that on a nascar broadcast.. pathetic

by TR65 on Feb 28, 2010 2:15 PM EST up reply actions

I didn’t think it was possible to be worse than last week. Awful. Horrible.

by jr88freak on Feb 28, 2010 2:17 PM EST up reply actions

why do they even air this segment

"It's better to be a lion for a day than a lamb your entire life"

by MsKit on Feb 28, 2010 2:16 PM EST up reply actions

It is almost as bad as that gopher thing….FOX just isn’t very creative

by NASCAR_Sandy_Webb on Feb 28, 2010 2:19 PM EST up reply actions

They are trying to hard. Pushing things to compete with… I don’t know. Just give us NASCAR please! NASCAR fans aren’t that hard to please. Just show us the race. We don’t need the extra stuff.

by jr88freak on Feb 28, 2010 2:20 PM EST up reply actions

not watching…thanks to Jeff I know what time the flag drops-I hardly ever watch the pre-show

by trishalistic on Feb 28, 2010 2:26 PM EST up reply actions

NAPA commercial

I used to like the Martin Truex Jr. commercial. But I just saw the 3rd version of that commercial. First with Martin, then with Ron Capps and now some dude that I don’t know. All doing the same thing. Really? Is NAPA trying to cut the money? They didn’t have any creative ideas?

by jr88freak on Feb 28, 2010 2:28 PM EST reply actions

Just pondering...

That NASCAR commercial they show to promote the sport could be a Talladega commercial. All the shots they show except for maybe one is at Talladega.

by Cliff Cox on Feb 28, 2010 2:41 PM EST reply actions

Pre-race show

Why is that that FOX thinks we want to see things like the Pizzi segment or segments with comedians or celebrities who are at the race? When I turn on a pre-race show, all I want to see is: 1) driver interviews, 2) NASCAR news, 3) team news. All the other crap is useless and makes me want to change the channel. Thank goodness there’s PRN/MRN to listen to. Plenty of driver interviews there.

by HighTechRedneckWoman on Feb 28, 2010 2:59 PM EST reply actions

I agree! That’s all I want to see. Don’t need all the other pointless stuff.

by jr88freak on Feb 28, 2010 3:00 PM EST up reply actions

I think you are preaching to the choir! lol

by trishalistic on Feb 28, 2010 3:00 PM EST up reply actions

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 28, 2010 3:14 PM EST up reply actions

The crappy Fox segments on the pre-race. A Slice of Pizzi and the Caliendo skit.

by jr88freak on Feb 28, 2010 3:12 PM EST up reply actions

caliendo is hilarious.

by rowdyfan on Feb 28, 2010 3:14 PM EST up reply actions

How was the Slice of PIzzi thing? Lame? What did he say?

They had Caliendo??? I love him

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 28, 2010 3:14 PM EST up reply actions

Slice of Pizzi thing was really lame. He was with Johnson and he put on a bip and pacifer and asked Jimmie how he would handle a baby. He cried “Daddy” Jimmie told him to shut up. Pizzi kept it up and Jimmie just picked up a slice of pizza and shoved it in Pizzi’s mouth. To end the segment Pizzi called him a 4 time champ, but a horrible father.

Caliendo was good. I like him. I think he’s funny. Called Chris Myers the biggest tool in NASCAR.

by jr88freak on Feb 28, 2010 3:17 PM EST up reply actions

Could be worse...

At least it’s not Digger cartoons.

by Karla Figueroa on Feb 28, 2010 3:14 PM EST up reply actions

by Chris Bennett on Feb 28, 2010 3:18 PM EST reply actions

That didn't take long, huh?

Jeff Gordon dove right underneath Kurt coming out of turn 4. looking good.

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 28, 2010 3:19 PM EST reply actions

didn’t take long for a caution either

by Scrapgirl933 on Feb 28, 2010 3:20 PM EST up reply actions

Caution

Extenze car couldn’t keep it up top /grin/

by Chris Bennett on Feb 28, 2010 3:21 PM EST up reply actions

I totally thought Robby Gordon did that…but it was Conway. Rookies.

Nice job by the extenze car for that long, extended slide…

Question...

Do you think Sam Hornish Jr. will ever win a Cup race?

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 28, 2010 3:27 PM EST reply actions

Answer...

Fuel mileage race is a possibility.

by Karla Figueroa on Feb 28, 2010 3:28 PM EST up reply actions

possibly, but he’ll have to get lucky. He’s an okay driver, but never going to be great in Cup I don’t think.

by Scrapgirl933 on Feb 28, 2010 3:29 PM EST up reply actions

I think if he does, it’ll be like Casey Mears. He’ll have a good race and all the stars will align. I remember when he was rumored for DEI back when he was winning IRL championships, I figured he’d be like Tony Stewart. Boy was I wrong!

by jshaunburke on Feb 28, 2010 3:29 PM EST up reply actions

I was at the Casey Mears race. Back before we didn’t care for one another.

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 28, 2010 3:30 PM EST up reply actions

I was at that race, I think I laughed at the Top 5 after that race…Kyle Petty and JJ Yeley finished top 5 in that one.

by Scrapgirl933 on Feb 28, 2010 3:32 PM EST up reply actions

Cali...

Why no love for a fellow CA native? We are all supposed to support one another dude. :)

by Karla Figueroa on Feb 28, 2010 3:41 PM EST up reply actions

I think it will take a lot for him to win outright – maybe a rain delay win is in his future? Just don’t see enough strength in team -

by Ceejaytravels on Feb 28, 2010 3:29 PM EST up reply actions

Well Robby Gordon’s won before. Blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then. But no. I don’t think so.

by jr88freak on Feb 28, 2010 3:29 PM EST up reply actions

Robby Gordon was a good road-course racer for awhile there. What happened?

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 28, 2010 3:31 PM EST up reply actions

He’s not at RCR anymore and with his own team. Still pretty good on road courses, just seems to beat himself all the time there.

by jr88freak on Feb 28, 2010 3:32 PM EST up reply actions

His Bad attitude is what happened.

by Ceejaytravels on Feb 28, 2010 3:33 PM EST up reply actions

Personally, I don’t see Hornish ever winning a Cup race. Just my opinion.

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 28, 2010 3:31 PM EST up reply actions

I don’t either. Even with a rain shortened race.

by jr88freak on Feb 28, 2010 3:36 PM EST up reply actions

Well I guess if you’re not counting the All-Star Open win. Maybe one day.

by Cliff Cox on Feb 28, 2010 3:29 PM EST up reply actions

not unless he lucks into it, which would take a miracle

by trishalistic on Feb 28, 2010 3:29 PM EST reply actions

Awesome save by Dinger!

Don’t think they’ll need to mow that section of grass.

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 28, 2010 3:32 PM EST reply actions

Jeff Gordon

I can’t even remember the last time Jeff Gordon looked this good early in a race.

by jshaunburke on Feb 28, 2010 3:33 PM EST reply actions

Bet they don’t keep on top of adjustments though and he falls back.

by ChicknLil on Feb 28, 2010 3:37 PM EST up reply actions

he is spanking ’em right now

by trishalistic on Feb 28, 2010 3:34 PM EST reply actions

Someone on Twitter

just said, in response to what Kim Kardashian is doing now, that she’s still waiting to give the command. Haha!!

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 28, 2010 3:35 PM EST reply actions

I take it she didn’t make you a fan? You’re not going to DVR the Kardasian show when you get home?

by jr88freak on Feb 28, 2010 3:36 PM EST up reply actions

Atlant

So are you going to be in Atlanta next weekend?

by 18frannie on Feb 28, 2010 3:36 PM EST reply actions

Yep, I will be there. You?

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 28, 2010 3:39 PM EST up reply actions

I will be on Saturday for the truck race, but not Sunday for the cup race.

by 18frannie on Feb 28, 2010 3:40 PM EST up reply actions

Las Vegas Crowds

Jeff, how close is Vegas to Fontana? This crowd is impressive. Maybe this track should get Fontana’s 2nd race? Still be west coast presence.

by jshaunburke on Feb 28, 2010 3:36 PM EST reply actions

I have to say Vegas would be better suited for 2 cup races than Fontana

by Scrapgirl933 on Feb 28, 2010 3:40 PM EST up reply actions

Shaun...

…Vegas is almost exactly three hours from Fontana. The problem is, Vegas is owned by SMI (Speedway Motorsports Inc/Bruton Smith) and Fontana is owned by ISC (International Speedway Corp./NASCAR).

The way it works these days is you can only transfer dates between companies. So Vegas couldn’t get California’s date…NASCAR would not give it up.

The only way for Vegas to get a second date is to come from another SMI track. HOWEVER, Kentucky is first on the waiting list (date will likely come from Atlanta).

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 28, 2010 3:41 PM EST up reply actions

That sucks. I was looking at “crowd estimates” for Atlanta and they “estimate” about 100K fans per race when they actually race on Sunday. The move to Labor Day weekend was genious! Isn’t part of the decision TV money? I know one of the best tracks to attend for a race is Atlanta, is it not as exciting on tv?

lead lap

With things getting so spread out I’ll be glad if my fantasy drivers just finish on the lead lap today!

by redtaco on Feb 28, 2010 3:43 PM EST reply actions

and there is caution for Kim’s pink car! Saved a lot of guys from going a lap down

by Scrapgirl933 on Feb 28, 2010 3:45 PM EST up reply actions

Don't tell anyone

but I FORGOT to change my fantasy lineup today. Oh well, you’d think the drivers that do well at Fontana would also do well at Vegas? Jimmie, Mark…

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 28, 2010 3:46 PM EST up reply actions

I almost forgot to change mine, remembered last night!

by Scrapgirl933 on Feb 28, 2010 3:48 PM EST up reply actions

I’m still working off my Daytona lineup. AND my C-driver was spewing oil. Figured Labonte was a great C pick here!

by jshaunburke on Feb 28, 2010 3:48 PM EST up reply actions

I don’t think I changed mine either. Good thing we have quite some time left in the season.

by terisummerfield on Feb 28, 2010 3:49 PM EST up reply actions

The more agonizing I do over my picks the worse I seem to do in the races! First instinct is best. Choose ’em and step away from the computer!

by redtaco on Feb 28, 2010 3:51 PM EST up reply actions

I agree – it is agonizing – I forgot to do Daytona – too much of a crap shoot, but now I am way behind.

Haha! Great point. She krashed.

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 28, 2010 3:47 PM EST up reply actions

by jr88freak on Feb 28, 2010 3:52 PM EST up reply actions

I don’t know how anyone (fan or not) would want to leave

by trishalistic on Feb 28, 2010 3:49 PM EST reply actions

I know…never ceases to amaze me. People leave before the checkers. Why even go, then??

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 28, 2010 3:51 PM EST up reply actions

The tailgating and camping is my guess. I’ve never left a race ebefore it is over yet.

by Karla Figueroa on Feb 28, 2010 3:53 PM EST up reply actions

tailgating and tweetups? LOL

by redtaco on Feb 28, 2010 3:53 PM EST up reply actions

Waste of money I think. I fork out tickets, hotels, gas, food, etc. My butt will be in the seat until they kick me out! I’ll be getting my money worth. Doesn’t make any sense leaving before the race is over, even if your favorite wrecks out.

by jr88freak on Feb 28, 2010 3:55 PM EST up reply actions

I agree-I’m there til it’s over

by trishalistic on Feb 28, 2010 3:56 PM EST up reply actions

Caution for a caution

This is a bizarre sport sometimes.

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 28, 2010 3:57 PM EST reply actions

this track always seems to have issues like this! The outage the other day, the outage in the truck race the other year….craziness

by Scrapgirl933 on Feb 28, 2010 3:58 PM EST up reply actions

I looked up from my computer and thought the cars were running rather slow for green flag conditions. Then all of a sudden the caution car came on the track. That was a first, wasn’t it?

I look at this race in 2008. He was the guy to beat in 2007, then in 2008 he was running up front in the 1st 3 races. After his hard crash in this race, it’s like he lost his edge. You can say the same thing for DW in his 96 “The Winston” crash. I think alot of these great drivers loose that edge after a hard crash. Maybe it’s his back, maybe it’s fear of the next crash. I don’t know. Gordon admintly denies his back is an issue, but I think he’s just saying that so people will quit asking about it!

by jshaunburke on Feb 28, 2010 4:09 PM EST up reply actions

I don’t completely agree with you…I don’t think he’s lost his edge. He may be getting a bit older though. His back bothers him, but I don’t think it’s a huge issue. Personally I just think Chad Knaus is a better crew chief.

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 28, 2010 4:12 PM EST up reply actions

It just appears to me the thing he was so great at: The money laps, is where he’s suffering now. Restarts, last 10 laps, etc. It may be the setups they run now. I remember him saying something about not liking bumpstops or something a few years ago. It’s alot of things, but I think you could change his CC with just about any in the garage and he’s a 1-2 win per year driver still.

by jshaunburke on Feb 28, 2010 4:17 PM EST up reply actions

Not that he hasn’t been good. Think it’s that Jimmie’s making everyone look bad.

by jr88freak on Feb 28, 2010 4:09 PM EST up reply actions

Pressure?

Could the 48 as a teammate be causing the bad runs? He was #1 at HMS and then Jimmie found the horseshoe.

by Karla Figueroa on Feb 28, 2010 4:09 PM EST up reply actions

Certainly, Jimmie has been gobbling up a lot of the wins (and championships) that Jeff would have had. But also, Jimmie has been beating Jeff straight up, with the same stuff. Is that because of Letarte or Gordon?

by Jeff Gluck on Feb 28, 2010 4:11 PM EST up reply actions

I don’t think Letarte nor McGrew are any good.

by Txgirl88 on Feb 28, 2010 4:15 PM EST up reply actions

I’m going to jump out on a limb and say it’s Gordon. Letarte is a smart young guy. Rick wouldn’t have pulled him up the ranks if he didn’t think he could do it. I think that if this year isn’t better he (Rick) should think of restructuring the crew chied/driver relationship for the 24.

by Karla Figueroa on Feb 28, 2010 4:18 PM EST up reply actions

he’s decent……but I don’t think he’s the best out there. But there aren’t really that many really good ones out there

by Scrapgirl933 on Feb 28, 2010 4:12 PM EST up reply actions

I am still pretty pissed about Letarte’s call at Daytona!

by jshaunburke on Feb 28, 2010 4:13 PM EST up reply actions

I think Steve is an good CC – he’s just not GREAT and that is what Jeff needs. It may be time to look for another CC – just like his marketing team. Hard to let a good guy go, but I don’t see the “umph” that is needed to win the championship!

by Ceejaytravels on Feb 28, 2010 4:14 PM EST up reply actions

I think there are just more competitive drivers and teams out there than in the past, and the #48 hasn’t helped anything.

by Chef Dodge on Feb 28, 2010 4:19 PM EST up reply actions

I think Jeff Gordon would highly benefit from the Mark Martin plan. If jeff went part time for a year or two, he would come back and win 6-8 races that 3rd year! I mean, same job, same team, same sponsor, same EVERYTHING for close to 20 years. ANYWOULD would be ready for a small break!

by RyanECU on Feb 28, 2010 4:12 PM EST reply actions

Honestly believe it’s because Gordon’s at the end of his career. Not that makes him any less of of a driver. His end of the career is a helluva lot better than some drivers in their prime. He’s not as dominate as he once was. Cars, drivers, etc have caught and passed the 24 dominance. Could really go before Latarte. Since Evernham left, has Gordon really shown any of his dominance?

by jr88freak on Feb 28, 2010 4:14 PM EST reply actions

Gordon’s stepdad said this week that Jeff is going to drive five more years though.

Is that 4 letter word that starts with s and ends with hit still a no-no to say on either the tv or the radio? JPM said it in his PRN interview. Shouldn’t that result in a points penalty of some kind? I know it did for Dale Jr a few years back.

So what is the deal with Elliot Sadler

I see the sponsor is Stanley, ok .
The car is a Ford, ok.
The team is Richard Petty Motorsports, I get the feeling his season is doomed.
The owner is George Gillete Jr, why have I never heard of this name before?
The crew chief is Wally Rogers, I’m relieved to find out he worked for Andy Petree cuz I was a big Harry Gant fan when Petree was his crew chief.

Are my doomed season feelings in order?
Anyone have more info to share?

Pitting over the line

Alot of people on twitter are questioning the no call on Gordon’s pit stop. From what I’ve seen in the past, as long as you don’t complete your stop over the line you are OK. He backed that car up then completed the stop. I’ve seen guys start to take the tires off the car, put the lugs back on, backup, then complete the stop. The whole time, the fuel can was plugged in.

48 never seems very good with only 2

Wave Around Rule

Kyle and his crew are trying to determine if they are eligible for the wave around. Can you explain the wave around in 5th grade words?

by 18frannie on Feb 28, 2010 5:49 PM EST reply actions

wave around cars are all those cars that used to start ahead of the leader on restarts.

by jr88freak on Feb 28, 2010 5:51 PM EST up reply actions

Guys that are a lap down can decide to not pit. Before the wave around rule, they would restart in front of the leaders, so they would be on the lead lap but not by much. It made for messy restarts, and angry leaders. So NASCAR made a new rule where if you are a lap down and choose not to pit when the leaders pit, you can stay out and instead of positioning them on the tail end of the lead lap right in front of the leaders, they wave them around and they start at the end of the field, but back on the lead lap.

Thank you. Wasn’t sure I could explain it without talking myself in circles.

Good explanation

Was wondering why the restarts seemed cleaner.

FOX

I can’t believe they went to commercial NOW! That is the worst timed commercial in history of NASCAR!

by jshaunburke on Feb 28, 2010 5:58 PM EST reply actions

Be nice if they would not go to commercials with 20 laps to go in any race.

Chad Knaus

Is a freaking genius! If I didn’t love him, I would HATE him.

by MissJess on Feb 28, 2010 6:05 PM EST reply actions

It’s always a shame when the guy who dominates the race doesn’t have the finish to reflect it.

I really can’t believe Jeff didn’t take 4 tires. Terrible call by Steve, if you ask me.

48 - I am sick of it

I love Hendrick motorsports and I would probably feel different if my driver was winning all the time, but I am SICK of seeing the 48 up front all the time. I don’t know what the solution is – maybe kidnap Knaus – this is not good for NASCAR folks.

by Ceejaytravels on Feb 28, 2010 6:07 PM EST reply actions

maybe

clone Knaus, better than being kidnapped
