The 2010 Winter Olympics came to an official close Sunday night when the Olympic Flame was extinguished as Canadian Neil Young sang, "Long May You Run."
It was a simple and appropriate end to the games.
Then, things got weird.
Like, William Shatner and Catherine O'Hara telling jokes, shortly followed by Michael Buble in disguise, dancing Mounties, a kid dressed as a hockey puck, a giant version of tabletop hockey and enormous inflatable beavers kind of weird. Maybe I just don't understand Canadian humor?
Still to come later tonight: Nickelback.
Okay, now that joke I definitely get.

It got very weird.

I was fine with everything weird until Nickelback. Nothing wrong with self-parody. It went downhill quickly after that, though.

It was painful to watch, despite the line fantastic line about inflatable beavers. And did they ever pass the torch? Did I miss it? And then The Marriage Ref? My god it was a painful end to the Games.

This.
Advance apologies if the contents of this sports-based post offended you. I'm just aiming to educate the masses. My law professor says they're asses.
