USA Vs. Canada: Chat With Other Fans As Teams Go For Gold

This is it. The game we've all hoped would come to fruition. Canada. USA. Gold medal on the line.

The USA has won two gold medals, in 1960 at Squaw Valley and in 1980 at Lake Placid, both on home ice. The Canadians have won seven gold medals, but have never won in their home country. One of these fun facts will change today.

Use this thread to discuss today's game with fans from around SB Nation, no matter which team you support. It should be an unbelievable atmosphere at Canada Hockey Place as these two teams lock horns once again.

Thanks for the reply

I thought it was a pretty funny joke as well. Heard it from my buddy at the lodge!

Any lineup notes for today?

Sounds stupid but with NBC covering this, it’s not ike a traditional event broadcast where news comes out before gametime aobut an injury or other roster adjustment.

Tonight, We are the greatest hockey team in the world.

This is your time, their time is done, it’s over. I’m sick and tired of hearing about what a great hockey team the Soviets Canadians have. Screw em, this is your time. Now go out there and take it.

But it seems like he’s being sucked in by Milbury’s douchery.

An aggressive, in your face defender would be like blitzing.

Forechecking is like… uh, rushing, I guess.

The USA team lives off of their energy. They need to outwork Canada to have a chance. They’re not as talented.

Man, the Americans are swarming all over the Canadians right now. Canada is getting the puck in the USA zone, but they can’t move an inch before a US player is right on top of them.

… I wish the Flyers could play like this.

Yep, they’re going to stay there for most of the game probably. They did in the game last week too. It’s matter of the US being opportunistic in the few chances they do get.

Totally agree, but that was how they were built

Yeah, Brian Burke did a brilliant job building this team. He went into it knowing that the USA doesn’t have the sheer talent to beat Canada, so you’ve gotta counter that with hard work and aggressive play. They’ve done it all tournament long.
