Smith spurned Tennessee, Florida State, and Alabama for New Mexico, a team that went 1-11 last year under Mike Locksley, a coach investigated for striking one of his assistants Tom Cable-style in a staff meeting. Smith’s quote on why he chose New Mexico:
“I just go where my heart tells me to go,” Smith said. “I’m not listening to what people say. I go where I feel comfortable at.”
Or where the person holding you hostage at gunpoint just off camera wants you to go.
