Theismann Says Tebow Should "Retire"

Joe Theismann says Tim Tebow, rather than even attempting a pro career, should “retire” and move on with his life. From his interview on 1010XL in Jacksonville today:

“Rock star status preserved,” Theismann said.

“Obviously at Florida they don’t teach throwing the football,” Theismann opined in explaining that Tebow’s mechanics are “poor.” Theismann also said that Urban Meyer and his staff have “no clue” regarding the process for preparing a quarterback to play “at the next level.”

I would have said the same about Theismann prior to his attempt at a broadcasting career, but nooo, he had to try and string sentences together for a living without seeming intolerable, but he went ahead and did it without asking us. And look where that got him: surfing Radio Row desperately looking for a mike to belch nonsense into in the name of talking for talking’s sake.

Tebow has to try, because that’s life. You have to try, even if it means failing, because preserving the glory of the gilded past is never worth a prospective future of work, trial, and possible though unlikely success.

Thiesmann is right on one count: Florida doesn’t turn out NFL quarterbacks. Then again, Florida doesn’t exist to create NFL qbs. They try to win games in college, and do it very well. Also, I have it on good authority that Joe Theismann wore speedos to his local pool as recently as 1990. While this has nothing to do with this news, it does remind you that Joe Theismann has suspect judgment, and should not be trusted.

I haven’t been able to take Theismann seriously since he predicted Jason Campbell’s pro bowl birth last July. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/07/09/theismann-thinks-jason-campbell-is-bound-for-the-pro-bowl/

Thanks for rebutting so I don't have to, Spencer.

What idiocy.

"All by their heads, he places crowns."

Matt Prater, pre-2009 season: Despised, lambasted, Josh McDaniels is derided for not replacing him.
Matt Prater, post-2009 season: Loved, praised, everone forgets the time when they called Josh McDaniels an idiot for not replacing him.
