Tomlinson: 'I Don't Believe I'll Be Back In San Diego'

After averaging a mere 3.3 yards per carry in what proved to be the worst season of his nine-year career, LaDainian Tomlinson told the San Diego Union-Tribune that he does not expect to return to the Chargers in 2010.

"I'm not coming back," Tomlinson told The San Diego Union-Tribune on Thursday. "I don't believe I'll be back in San Diego. I've accepted it."

After more than a month of saying he did not know what would happen, Tomlinson said he has believed for a while he would be let go by the Chargers.

Tomlinson has two years remaining on his current contract, but given his slow decline over the past two seasons, it is doubtful that the Chargers would spend $5 million in 2010 to bring him back. If this is indeed the end of LT in a Charger uniform, it's safe to say that, looking back to the 2001 NFL draft, San Diego made the right decision in bringing in Tomlinson over that speedy quarterback from Virginia Tech.
