All week, Chad Ochocinco has been lobbying to get Terrell Owens on the Bengals. And at Ochocinco's mansion party on Friday, Owens acknowledged his efforts. As The Sporting Blog's Chris Littman reports, Owens joked (?) that if he joins the Bengals, he will change his name to Terrell Ocho Uno.
I delight in antics like these as long as they annoy people, but there are several things wrong with this. First, Ocho Uno doesn't roll off the tongue as well as Ochocinco. What if it's spelled, "Ochouno"? Too close to "ouch, oh no."
Also, it's contrived. The Spanish language has already been explored in the Bengals wide receiver naming department. Try French: "Quatrevingt." Or Dutch: "Eénentachtig." Or English: "Owens." Yeah, that last one is pretty good.
