It turns out quarterback David Garrard isn't the only veteran player that the Jacksonville Jaguars and head coach Jack Del Rio have cooled on.
Vito Stellino of the Florida Times-Union is reporting that the Jaguars will release receiver Torry Holt and offensive tackle Tra Thomas next week.
Jacksonville signed both veterans last spring. Thomas departs Jacksonville with two years remaining on a three-year deal, while Holt had two years remaining on his three-year, $13 million contract. Holt established career lows in catches (51), yards (722) and touchdowns (0) in his lone season in teal, while Thomas ended the season behind rookies Eugene Monroe and Eben Britton on the depth chart.
Stellino also reports that both players plan to continue their careers. Holt, 33, made a name for himself in St. Louis under the tutelage of Mike Martz, who recently became the offensive coordinator of the Chicago Bears. Thomas, 35, spent the first 11 years of his career with Philadelphia.
