Injured Erik Bedard Signs One-Year Deal With Mariners

Feb 6, 2010 - The Mariners have are keeping southpaw Erik Bedard in Seattle, signing the 30-year-old pitcher to a one-year deal.

The Mariners signed left-handed free agent pitcher Erik Bedard to a one-year contract with a mutual option for 2011, the team announced Saturday morning.

[...] Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Bedard told Le Droit that it would be for $1.5 million in 2010 with incentives.

Over his two-year career with the Mariners, Bedard has suffered numerous injury-related setbacks but has pitched impressively whenever he's been able. Unfortunately, Bedard's injury woes continue.

Mariners head trainer Rick Griffin hinted Thursday that free agent Erik Bedard (shoulder) might not be ready to pitch for another three-to-five months.
