The New Orleans Saints are Super Bowl champions after 42 years of virtually nothing, but their upset victory wasn't the only historical factoid from yesterday's game. SB Nation's In Historic provided a list of records that occurred during Super Bowl XLIV, and here is a sampling of those records:
- Sean Payton's onside kick was not only the first recovered onside kick outside of the fourth quarter, it was the first onside kick ever even attempted outside of the fourth quarter in Super Bowl history.
- By coming back from a 10-0 first quarter deficit, the Saints tied the 1987 Washington Redskins for the largest comeback in Super Bowl history.
- The 63 total completions between Brees and Manning was a Super Bowl best. The game's 75% completion percentage was also the highest ever.
- Indianapolis' 96-yard touchdown drive in the first quarter was the longest in Super Bowl history.
