If you watched yesterday’s gold medal hockey game between the US and Canada, you probably heard announcer Doc Emrick mention that the Pirates were gathered around a TV in Bradenton watching it with you. It’s a nice story, but unfortunately it wasn’t actually true.
From Pirates.com beat reporter Jen Langosch:
For any of you who watched the USA-Canada hockey game and heard broadcaster Doc Emrick mention the Pirates gathering for a hockey watch party in Bradenton yesterday, it wasn’t true. Not sure where that false fact originated, but there was no such event.
It was nice of Emrick to work baseball into the sports world’s biggest event of the weekend, but unfortunately the facts are getting in the way of his story.
