Syracuse's Arinze Onuaku Injures Knee In Loss To Georgetown

Syracuse lost their first game in the Big East Tournament earlier today against Georgetown, but may have even bigger problems going forward. Starting center Arinze Onuaku came down hard on his right knee and had to leave the game with 5:07 left to go in the second half. He was rolling on the ground and seemed to be in a lot of pain before he was helped off the court.

As of right now, it appears the injury might not be as serious as it seemed. SI's Luke Winn spoke to Onuaku's mom, who told him the X-Rays were negative and that he should be able to return for the NCAA Tournament. However, Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim did not sound so sure, according to Winn.

"He's got a strain. We don't know for sure if it's any more than that. We'll find out on Monday."

Winn reports that Onuaku will undergo an MRI tomorrow. Onuaku was reportedly limping around in crutches after the game.

SU emailed the local Syracuse news with the statement that Onuaku’s MRI showed that he suffered a " quad injury", no tears of ligaments etc. so they say he will practice Monday and basically be day to day. Good news for us ’Cuse fans!

My life's unique distinction is being one of the twenty sorry fans who bought Rams season tickets in Anaheim from '86 to '94!
