MRI Confirms Rose Only Has A Sprained Wrist, Team Says

It appears the Bulls may have dodged a bullet with Derrick Rose's recent wrist injury. According to a Bulls press release, an MRI revealed Rose only has a sprained wrist.

The Bulls, in a news release, said there was no fracture or ligament damage. He is listed as day to day.

Rose won't play tonight against the Heat, but assuming the Bulls' press release is true, they dodged a major bullet.

Derrick Rose Injures Wrist In Loss To Magic

The Chicago Bulls are already dealing with injuries to Joakim Noah and Luol Deng, but this news is way worse. Star point guard Derrick Rose left last night's game against Orlando with a wrist injury after he was fouled hard by Dwight Howard.

The Bulls are calling it a sprained wrist for now, according to coach Vinny Del Negro, but Rose is scheduled to receive an MRI today to determine if the injury is any worse than that.

While X-Rays taken after the game were negative, signs in the locker room indicate this could be a very serious injury. Alex Kennedy of HoopsWorld reported the following from the Bulls' locker room last night, via Twitter:

Steve Kyler from Bulls locker room says Derrick Rose will have an MRI in the morning, teammates don't believe he'll be playing anytime soon.

More from Kyler - Rose had X-Ray after injury which didn't show a fracture but doctors say that the break is likely on the inside of wrist.

These types of fractures usually don't show up in X-rays which is why Rose is having the MRI in the morning.

Despite what the team is saying, nobody believes this is a sprain based on the amount of pain and anger Rose was showing.

We'll have another update tomorrow morning after he undergoes the MRI in Miami but for now, it's not looking good for the Bulls.

If sprained, Rose will likely miss a few games. If the inside of his wrist is fractured like doctors fear, he's likely out for the season.
