Gus Johnson is a polarizing figure. If you want to get a handle on someone, ask them what they think of Gus Johnson. If the person in question likes him, he or she is probably fun to hang out with. If the person in question dislikes him, he or she is probably a joyless individual who needs to be taken out for ice cream.
I place myself firmly in the former category. To take it a step further, I always want him to be loud. Every basketball game, in my opinion, should end with fans storming the court and cutting down the nets while Gus Johnson yells things.
Which is why I'm a little disappointed after watching this interview with Mr. Johnson. He's talking like a regular guy! What's going on here?
My illusions have been shattered like a chandelier against the ballroom floor.
