On a day that has had its fair share of questionable hits, Steve Downie lays a fairly blatant slewfoot on Sidney Crosby during Sunday's Pittsburgh Penguins-Tampa Bay Lightning game. Here is video of the hit:
Downie received a two minute roughing minor for the hit and is currently still in the game. Crosby left for a while but has also returned to the game as well.

I’m not condoning the hit, and I’m not much for Downie’s antics when he lowers himself to this…
But his reaction was retaliation, just an extreme one, to Steven Stamkos being laid out at the other end of the ice. The video doesn’t show that hit. Nor does anyone make mention of it.
9:12. Lights out. Raw Charge.

hit on Crosby
I don’t condone any dirty hits, but I would caution Bettman and co. from too much being made of this dirty hit. Sid, Bettman’s golden boy, has shown he’s no stranger to dishing out extremely dirty hits with absolutely no punishment. Just look at last years playoffs!!!! If you can’t tell I have no use for classless play such as Sids. So as far as this nasty hit, which is exactly that, I say it’s karma me boy, karma!!!
