For all his talents, Capitals super star Alex Ovechkin certainly has a reckless side. He showed it earlier this season with a knee-on-knee hit on Carolina's Tim Gleason, for which he was suspended two games.
On Sunday in Chicago, Ovechkin showed a bit of that reckless side again, delivering a two-handed push to the back and side of Blackhawks defenseman Brian Campbell. Campbell went flying into the end boards, awkwardly colliding with his shoulder before crumpling on the ice.
Ovechkin went immediately to the penalty box without even a signal from the referee, but he would eventually be handed a five minute major for boarding and a game misconduct.
Here's video of the incident:

Suspension for Ovi?
Does Ovechkin get suspended 4 games? I don’t see any difference between this push into the boards to a player that couldn’t protect himself than the one that Lapierre did on Nichols.

Pierre McGuire does it again
Really, Pierre? REALLY?! Exactly what kind of strength does it take to launch a guy into the boards, from behind, from the most dangerous distance from the boards there is?
We’re on a national network here, so there might be a casual fan watching, so the sideline talking head who salivates over every star is going to do his best to try to convince you that you didn’t see what you just saw. It’s not that it was an inherently dangerous shove, it’s that the star who did it has amazing “strength.” Move along, nothing more to see here…
