Exactly 365 days ago, at almost exactly this time, Tyreke Evans and his Memphis Tigers had just survived an early scare against a frisky 15-seed, Cal-State Northridge. At that point, a number of folks took the time to wonder whether Evans and the Tigers might have been a little overrated.
And 365 days later, after carrying Memphis to the Sweet 16 and turning the Rookie of the Year race into a "Who's coming in second?" debate, we can definitively say that Tyreke Evans is NOT overrated. He's on pace to finish this year with averages of 20 points, 5 assists, and 5 boards, joining just Michael Jordan, LeBron James, and Oscar Robertson as rookies with those numbers. So yeah, he's pretty good.
Alternate analysis: HOLY SH— did you see what he did to Ron Artest last night? Vicious:
Last year we were wondering about Tyreke, and today, we're marveling at him. Decent 365 days.
