Brewers Third Baseman Mat Gamel Diagnosed With "Slightly" Torn Lat
For the second straight spring, Mat Gamel has entered Brewer camp with a major-league-ready bat and high hopes to prove himself as someone the team needs to keep around. For the second straight spring, an injury is preventing him from making a good impression.
This spring, Gamel has appeared in just one game (and lasted just three innings), and now he's been diagnosed with a slight tear in the latissimus dorsi muscle behind his right shoulder. Gamel's extended absence has already cost him his chance to make the Opening Day roster, and now he's expected to be out at least six more weeks.
