The Three-Point Shot, College Basketball's Equalizer

Ohio is a No. 14 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Georgetown is was the No. 3 seed in the Midwest. The Bobcats went 7-9 this season ... in the MAC. The Hoyas? -- they finished 10-8 in the Big East, the mighty conference that put eight teams in the field of 65. Just this past weekend, Georgetown was battling in the conference's championship game against West Virginia. So how did Ohio manage to beat the Hoyas Thursday night?

By making 57% (13-for-23) of the three-point shots they attempted.

Both D.J Cooper and Armon Bassett hit five threes (Bassett finished with 32 points to lead the way), as Georgetown surrendered the most points they have ever given up in 70 NCAA tournament games. In fact, the 97 points from the Bobcats is the most scored against a team seeded No. 1 through No. 4 in the first round since the field expanded to 64 teams in 1985.

Unfortunately for Georgetown fans, this feeling of being on the wrong side of big upsets during March Madness is all too familiar.
