Welcome To March Madness: Murray State Nails Buzzer-Beater To Upset Vanderbilt

San Jose, CA (Sports Network) - Danero Thomas sank a pull-up jumper with time expiring to lift 13th-seeded Murray State to a 66-65 win over fourth-seeded Vanderbilt in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

After an inbound with 4.2 seconds left, Thomas got the ball near the top of the arc and dribbled inside the three-point line on the right side. He rose up, drilling the jumper over the outstretched arms of two Vanderbilt defenders to send the Racers into the second round in the West Region.

Isacc Miles had 17 points and six rebounds for Murray State (31-4), which got just its second-ever NCAA Tournament win. The Racers, who have won 22 of their last 23, will face either fifth-seeded Butler or No.12 seed UTEP in the second round.

B.J. Jenkins had 14 points and Thomas finished with 11 for Murray State, the Ohio Valley Conference champion.

John Jenkins scored 13 points to lead Vanderbilt (24-9), which ended its season with a second straight setback, having lost to Mississippi State in the SEC Tournament semifinals. A.J. Ogilvy and Jermaine Beal each scored 12 points.
