It's not news to say that Michael Jordan is a gambling addict that desperately craves action. It's also not news to say that Michael Jordan never forgets losing at anything and will go to all lengths to settle those scores. Unless you're living under a rock and missed his Hall Of Fame speech, you knew all that.
Even so, I don't think I've read a better account of Jordan's madness than this one by Free Darko. The blogger -- Joey from Straight Bangin -- tells the story of how he came to know MJ and how MJ beat him badly in a game of H.O.R.S.E. one time. They met on a plane, where Joey, then in college, proceeded to win a mere $254 (and his phone number, of course) off him through a series of prop bets about the weather. Jordan apparently never forgot and called him a few years later demanding he play him in H.O.R.S.E. to settle the score. Which, of course, Jordan did.
Just so we're clear, we're talking about Jordan holding a $254 bet against a college kid he barely knew and demanding the guy let him settle that score in a game of H.O.R.S.E. That, more than anything, tells you all you need to know about the guy.
