Top-seeded Kansas has reached the Field of 32 after a brief scare from Lehigh. Northern Iowa, a 9-seed, arrives after sinking UNLV in the final moments. At 5:40, the Jayhawks will continue their quest for a championhip against a Northern Iowa team that hasn't won two games in an NCAA Tournament since1964.
KU is the obvious favorite, but our Kansas blog, Rock Chalk Talk, is "a little bit scared."
After watching them last night, I wasn't worried at all. Now that I've done some research, they are starting to scare me a little bit. Their style of play almost guarantees they will be able to stay in the game. Hopefully they can't handle the speed of Sherron Collins and Tyshawn Taylor on the perimeter or the athleticism of the Morri and Xavier Henry.
The full preview, which includes a statistical breakdown of Northern Iowa, is well worth a read.
Rock Chalk Talk has also fired up a live game thread. Don't get the wrong idea: it won't be a calm affair. Kansas fans, generally speaking, are a perpetually worried and excitable bunch. Trust me, I know.
